Watch: Why Smriti Mandhana has a mention in the ‘notebook’ of Shreyanka Patil | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The Indian women’s cricket team registered a five-wicket win over England in a low-scoring third and final Women’s T20 International at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
The consolation victory helped India finish the three-match series with a 1-2 scoreline.
Powered by their rookie spinners Shreyanka Patil (3-19) and Saika Ishaque (3-22), India shot out England for 126 in 20 overs.
India lost Shafali Verma (6) early, but Smriti Mandhana (48) and Jemimah Rodrigues (29) added 57 for the second wicket to put India’s chase on track.
Playing for the first time in the series, Amanjot Kaur (13*) showed nerves of steel, stroking left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone for three fours in the penultimate over to seal the win.
After the win, the BCCI posted a video clip of an interaction between the chief architects of the win Smriti Mandhana and Shreyanka Patil on social media handle X.
The clip has Shreyanka Patil acknowledging Smriti Mandhana’s words of advice when she was bowling and also the ‘special moment’ from getting the cap from the Indian left-hander and also mentioning it in her notebook.
Smriti Mandhana also expressed her happiness on getting the win ahead of the one-off Test against England and compared Shreyanka Patil with Jemimah Rodrigues on how they keep the dressing room ‘light’.

It was India’s first win at home against England since March 2018 and before this win, they had suffered five straight defeats in the shortest format.
Overall, it is only the eighth time that India have beaten England in 31 T20Is.
