NEW DELHI: All-rounder Shardul Thakur was in carnage mode on Thursday as he fired the joint fastest fifty of the season to power Kolkata Knight Riders to a massive 81-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first home game.
Shardul took the RCB bowlers to the sword as his belligerent 29-ball 68 and century stand with Rinku Singh (46) lifted KKR to a towering 204 for 7.
With KKR reeling at 89 for 5, Shardul arrived to the middle and took the RCB bowlers apart, smashing 9 fours and 3 sixes during his blitz that came at a strike rate of over 234.
Bollywood superstar and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was mighty impressed with Shardul show as he gave him a standing ovation from the stands after the all-rounder was dismissed in the final over.
