This visit came after India’s commanding 10-wicket victory over South Africa in Chennai, where Shafali Verma and Shubha Satheesh led India to chase down a modest target of 37 runs in just 9.2 overs. This win marked India’s second 10-wicket triumph in Test cricket, their first being against South Africa in 2002 at Paarl.
The match had its dramatic moments, notably Laura Wolvaardt’s century (122 runs), which made India wait for their winning moment. South Africa, despite being bowled out for 266 in their first innings, mounted a strong fightback in their second innings, reaching 373 thanks to centuries from Wolvaardt and Sune Luus.
However, India’s bowlers, including Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, managed to dismantle South Africa’s lineup, leading to a significant win.
The team’s visit to Tirumala Temple was not just a moment of spiritual reflection but also a celebration of their hard-fought victory and determination, even in the ODI series before the one-off Test against Chennai. Harmanpreet and her teammates expressed their gratitude and sought blessings, marking a serene end to a triumphant series.
