It took Rohit’s tally of sixes in the IPL to 252, surpassing de Villiers’ 251 hits into the stands. The list is headed by West Indies great Chris Gayle, who has smashed 357 sixes in his IPL career.
Rohit’s bat, however, has largely remained silent this season, scoring 220 runs so far at an average of 18.33 in 12 matches, including just one half-century.
In the game on Friday, Mumbai Indians (218/5) defeated title-holders Gujarat Titans by 27 runs to return to No. 3 on the points table, thanks to a sensational 49-ball 103 not out by ‘Player of the Match’ Surayakumar Yadav.
