Oil Pulling To Activated Charcoal, Home Remedies For Sparkling White Teeth And Oral Hygiene – News18

It is recommended to visit a dentist at least twice a year to maintain oral hygiene.

Good oral health is essential for not only a bright smile but also well-being. It is better to abstain from teeth-staining food like coffee, tea, red wine and dark berries as they affect your teeth.

While most of us focus on physical and mental health, we tend to put oral hygiene on the back burner. It’s not just about white teeth but also germ-free and healthy gums. There are several products available on the market that promise to give you healthy white teeth. But some whitening products use chemicals to bleach your teeth and that might not be the best way to go about it.

Let’s take a look at some of the home remedies:

  1. Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide:Baking soda is mildly abrasive and can remove surface stains, while hydrogen peroxide is a natural bleaching agent that helps whiten teeth. Mix a small amount of baking soda with a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to form a paste. Brush your teeth gently with it for about 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. You will get your sparkling white teeth!
  2. Oil Pulling:Coconut oil has antimicrobial properties that help remove bacteria and plaque. It is another technique that involves rinsing your mouth with coconut oil for 15 minutes daily.
  3. Strawberries and Baking Soda:Strawberries contain malic acid, a natural whitening agent, and combined with baking soda, they help remove stains. Mash one ripe strawberry and mix it with a pinch of baking soda. Apply the mixture to your teeth for 5 minutes, then rinse and brush.
  4. Apple Cider Vinegar:This acts as a natural stain remover, breaking down plaque and surface stains. Dilute apple cider vinegar with water and use it as a mouthwash for 30 seconds before brushing your teeth.
  5. Activated Charcoal:Dip a wet toothbrush into activated charcoal powder and brush for two minutes, then rinse well. The activated charcoal binds to toxins and stains on teeth, helping to lift them off.

It is important to maintain proper oral hygiene. It is better to abstain from teeth-staining food like coffee, tea, red wine, and dark berries. Brush and floss regularly, and eat crunchy fruits and veggies like apples, carrots, and celery. As advised by Dr Neetika Modi, Director, Studio Aesthetique, “Cut down on foods and drinks that can stain your teeth, such as coffee, red wine, dark berries, smoking and chewing tobacco.” It is also recommended to visit a dentist at least twice a year to maintain oral hygiene.
