MMT, SOTC expand retail presence, open outlet in Karnataka & Maharashtra – ET TravelWorld

Leading travel agencies MakeMyTrip (MMT) and SOTC Travel have announced expansion of their retail and franchise outlets in different parts of the country. With new outlets, MMT and SOTC have boosted their presence in Karnataka and Maharashtra respectively.

MMT has opened a new franchise store in Yelahanka, which is the company’s 11th outlet in Karnataka. Sharing details, MakeMyTrip said that the franchise network expansion is part of company’s broader strategy to serve customers in the top 100+ cities of India.

Whereas, SOTC Travel has announced its new retail store in Dadar, Mumbai. With the new outlet in Dadar, SOTC’s network strength increases to nine stores in Mumbai (3 retail and 6 franchise) as the company is strategically focusing to expand its footprint in the city.

“Having a strategic focus to tap into Mumbai’s high potential market and expand the company’s footprint, the Company’s new outlet is centrally located at Shivaji Park. The new outlet will serve as a hub for nearby areas of Mahim and Prabhadevi as well, offering the company a range of valuable segments like Gen Z/new age travellers, millennials, families, couples, and business owners,” SOTC added.

MakeMyTrip betting big on corporate travel in 2023, focus on new destinations

In conversation with ETTravelWorld, Raj Rishi Singh, Chief Business Officer at MakeMyTrip shares all and more about the company’s corporate travel products and the trends that will drive the growth of corporate travel in 2023. The company is looking at promoting booming places like Kazakhstan, Baku and Georgia to avoid the destination fatigue post pandemic.

While, MMT said that Karnataka is a key holiday package market for MakeMyTrip, contributing almost 10 per cent in bookings. Maldives, Thailand, and Dubai are the top three overseas destinations booked from Karnataka. Ooty, Mysore, Coorg, Munnar, Manali, Shimla, Chandigarh, and Port Blair are some of the preferred destinations in India.SOTC Travel’s customer insights from Mumbai and Maharashtra indicate brisk demand of over 30 per cent v/s pre-pandemic with customers displaying growing interest for experiential holidays, spiritual getaways, group escorted holidays, domestic cruises, safaris and biking trips.

Commenting on the development, Jasmeet Singh, Business Head, Holidays & Experiences, MakeMyTrip, said, “We are delighted to have a physical interface in Yelahanka with the opening of a new store. We aim to build a hyper-local marketing connection by leveraging our partners to build travel communities in cities like Yelahanka. The initial reaction to the initiative has been positive. On the other hand, Daniel D’souza President & Country Head – Holidays, SOTC Travel talking about the new Dadar outlet said, “Mumbai and Maharashtra have been key source markets for us at SOTC, and we see strong continuum – over 30 per cent growth in demand since the pandemic. SOTC Travel opens new outlet at a prime location in Andheri West

With this, SOTC’s network expands to eight stores in Mumbai (3 retail and 5 franchise) reiterating the Company’s strategic focus to expand its footprint in the city. Andheri West is an upmarket locality and forms an important source market for SOTC Travel, offering the company a range of valuable segments like Gen Z/new age travellers, millennials, families, couples and business owners.

According to SOTC, top international and domestic destinations currently in demand are – Switzerland, France, Finland, Austria; Turkiye, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, USA (for visa holding customers), Japan, South Korea, Abu Dhabi, Maldives, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore; also Kashmir, Leh-Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Goa, Andamans, Kerala, North East; and Bhutan, Sri Lanka in the Indian subcontinent.
