Salil Parekh has become the second-highest-paid CEO of any IT company in India. According to reports, he received Rs 66.25 crores in the fiscal year 2024 as salary from the company. Salil has around three decades of experience in the IT industry under his hat. Salil ranks next to Wipro’s former CEO Thierry Delaporte, who reportedly earned $20 million (approximately Rs 166 crore) in FY 24.

Salil Parekh has been serving as the CEO of Infosys since January 2018. He is an alumnus of IIT Bombay. His career story is quite interesting. He graduated with Aeronautical Engineering from IIT Bombay in the year 1986. He started his career in the IT industry and later decided to pursue a Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. Before joining the IT giant Salil reportedly worked with Capgemini.

According to a report for Fiscal Year 2024, Salil Parekh received a remuneration of Rs 66.25 crore from the company. His salary increased drastically due to the Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), which are a type of equity compensation that are given to employees by the companies. If Rs 66 crore is divided by 365 days then Salil’s daily wage amounts to more than Rs 18 Lakh. He reportedly earned Rs 39.03 crores from his RSUs. Adding to it, Salil Parekh received Rs 7 crore as salary, Rs 47 lakhs as retirement benefits, and Rs 7.47 crore as a bonus. In FY23, his compensation was around Rs 56 crore while in FY22, his compensation was Rs 71 crore.
