IPL 2024: Rishabh Pant equals Shikhar Dhawan’s record for Delhi Capitals | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant showcased his prowess with a blistering knock of 55 runs off just 25 deliveries. Pant’s explosive innings not only electrified the crowd but also saw him equaling Shikhar Dhawan‘s record of the most half-centuries (18) for the franchise in a mouth-watering clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
Ahead of the two stands Australian veteran David Warner, with the flamboyant Aussie having already garnered 24 50+ scores during his time at DC.

However, despite Pant’s valiant efforts, Delhi Capitals faced their second-biggest defeat by runs in IPL history as they succumbed to the formidable challenge posed by Kolkata Knight Riders.

The ‘City of Destiny’ witnessed a relentless onslaught from KKR’s batting lineup, with Narine (85), Raghuvanshi (54), Russell (41), and Rinku Singh’s brutal hitting propelling them to a mammoth total of 272/7.

The Herculean target of 273 proved to be insurmountable for Delhi Capitals as they faltered under the pressure, eventually suffering a staggering 106-run defeat.

Mitchell Starc and Vaibhav Arora managed to scalp two wickets each in the powerplay, leaving Delhi Capitals reeling at 33/4.
Despite Pant’s resilience and his 18th half-century for DC, the mounting required rate proved to be too daunting a task for the Capitals as they failed to chase down the massive target set by KKR. With this defeat, Delhi Capitals find themselves grappling with the challenges of the tournament, while Kolkata Knight Riders continue to soar high with their dominating performance.
