‘Couldn’t see the timer’: Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant laments DRS mistake vs Kolkata Knight Riders | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: After suffering a demoralizing 106-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their recent Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter, Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant attributed some of the team’s struggles to poor Decision Review System (DRS) management, citing difficulty in seeing the timer on the screen.
“Today was one of those days. As a batting unit, we only wanted to keep going hard as a team.I would rather get all out as a team than not go for the target. I think it was quite loud here. At the same time, could not see the timer on the screen. There was some problem on the screen (on not being able to take some DRS calls). But there are some things you can control, some things you cannot,” Pant remarked during the post-match presentation.

Delhi Capitals’ bowling unit faced challenges in utilizing DRS effectively, notably missing an opportunity to review an edge by Narine early in the innings. Narine’s subsequent explosive knock dealt a severe blow to DC’s chances in the match.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, Pant admitted, “Our bowlers were all over the place. We just did not turn up on the day. See the thought process was that we didn’t want to use spinners but our fast bowlers were going through the motions. I think it is time for reflection as an individual. We need to learn from these mistakes and come positive in the next match.”

Despite the loss, Pant expressed satisfaction with his return to cricket following a life-threatening accident, saying, “I am doing fine. Getting out there. Enjoying every day but cricket has its own ups and downs.”

In the match, KKR’s dominance was evident as they posted an imposing total of 272/7, fueled by explosive contributions from Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Andre Russell, and Rinku Singh. In response, DC’s run-chase faltered early but saw a brief resurgence courtesy of Pant and Tristan Stubbs.
