Adam Sandler is having his daughters follow in his comedic footsteps.
The 56-year-old actor is set to star alongside his teenage daughters Sunny and Sadie, and wife Jackie in an upcoming Netflix comedy.
Based on the young adult novel by Fiona Rosenbloom, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah centers around the character of Sunny, Stacy, getting betrayed by her best friend Lydia, played by Samantha Lorraine, after the latter kisses Stacy’s high school crush.
The official logline of the comedy film read, “Lifelong best friends Stacy (Sunny Sandler) and Lydia (Samantha Lorraine) have long dreamt of epic bat mitzvahs but when popular boy Andy Goldfarb (Dylan Hoffman) and Hebrew school drama come between them, their perfect plans go comically awry.”
Adam and Jackie take their real-life roles playing on-screen parents to Sunny and Sadie in the film.
The Sammi Cohen directorial also stars Idina Menzel, Sarah Sherman, and Luis Gazmán among others.
Dishing on the experience of having the entire Sandler family on set, Cohen enthused it was the “best,” adding, “[They] made me part of the family.”
“It was this really beautiful thing where everyone had space to do their own thing, but always had support when they needed it. There’s a natural chemistry you get with the Sandlers that makes everything feel real and slice-of-life,” shared Cohen.
Sunny and Sadie Sandler are not exactly new to the world of media. The sisters made cameo appearances in 2011’s Jack and Jill and 2015’s Pixels.
Sunny also appeared in the 2010 film Grown Ups and its sequel three years later.
You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah is set for Netflix premiere Aug. 25.
