JAIPUR: If there is any team which has benefited the most from the Impact Player rule in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), then it is Rajasthan Royals. Previously, they preferred to balance the team combination with five bowlers and six batters, but with substitutes to choose from, it has added depth to the Royals’ batting.
Talking about how the new rule has worked in Royals’ favour, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said, “I guess I have been involved the maximum number of times when the substitution rule has come into play during the matches. It has always gone in our favour as the way Dhruv (Jurel) and Devdutt (Padikkal) are batting adds a lot of value to the score as I cannot contribute with the bat.”
The game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be leg-spinner Chahal’s debut game for Royals at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS)Stadium here and he is looking forward to exploiting the conditions.

“SMS is a big ground and that makes me happy as a spinner. Also, I am looking forward to seeing the support of the home crowd.”
Chahal made it clear that this year his goal is to win the trophy for the Royals.
“My focus is not on the Purple Cap, but on winning the trophy. And, if I perform well, the team will also perform well,” he said.
